Pick your pattern…

imageAs a stylist I understand how important attention to detail is. It not only polishes and completes a look but it is where individual style shines through. Our individual style is what separates us from each other. An example ( and also a fun experiment to do with your friends)  is to give three young woman the same simple black dress or LBD. Have them get dressed to go out for the night in their own rooms. I guarantee that after the woman add their personal acsesaories, make up and finishing touches no one will notice that the dress is the same. What we choose to do with our home is very similar. The way we decorate is a exact representation of ourselves. Homes are very personal and no matter what it maybe be it is important to make it our own.

I recently came across an amazing textile design company DENY. The site is a compilation of 7,000+ patterns and fabrics that have been designed by over 170 pattern makers, Interior and textile designers. They offer all types of products including, duvet covers, clocks, cushions, mirrors and more. Check out http://www.DENYdesign.com and begin to accessorize and personalize your home. Here are some of my favorites..

My SEPTEMBER Issue

It’s that time of year…you know who you are and you know what I am talking about. This is OUR season, the season that brings US together. It doesn’t matter where we live, it is not affected by our different climates or which holiday hallmark is celebrating. This is our special time of year when the world recognizes and celebrates the thing we worship, praise and love. FASHION
That’s right it’s SEPTEMBER. The greatest month in fashion. The magazines publish our ‘bibles’, 600+ pages providing inspiration and guidance by showcasing this years elite in style and design. Next, Fashion’s Night Out, A single night, taking place in cities all over the world allowing retailers and fashion industry icons to host events to showcase the power of the apparel industry and celebrate all the great things the industry does with that power. And of course the main event. Fashions’ most celebrated holiday, when we come together to worship and recognize the greatest in high fashion, Mercedes Benz Fashion Week, the first stop on the international event providing us with eight glorious days of nonstop fashion. This event displays the industries elite, the leaders, our ‘gods’ and celebrates their most recent collections.

Being a true fashion lover I will be following all of the great things this fashion filled month has to offer so check back and please share with me any trends, designers or fashion news you are loving.

Recycling is the New Black!

There are lots of ways to dispose of your unwanted clothing….Donating to goodwill, or one of the many other organizations which help individuals in need are the best options. However, if your clothes are not in the proper condition to be reused. H&M is teaming up with Dosomething.org to help save the planet one garment at a time. Research has shown that 85% of fabrics can easily be recycled. Unfortunately, unwanted clothes are being tossed out everyday, adding up to approximately 11.1 million tons, which is the equivalent of 70 billion t-shirts. Landfills are overrun with fabrics that can be remade into new garments. So next time you clean out your closet, shrink a sweater, stain a blouse or have a unsuccessful attempt to turn those old jeans into daisy dukes don’t toss them out. Simply take the fabric to your local H&M store and in return you will receive 15% off your next purchase. For more information go to, https://www.dosomething.org/campaigns/comeback-clothes because honestly the trend that never goes out of style and looks good on everyone is helping others and taking care of our beautiful planet.
